Woman dead after stand-off in Austintown, police say

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN): A standoff at an Austintown home ended with police discovering a woman dead inside and rescuing a toddler from the residence. The standoff occurred on Woodhurst Drive, where a man had barricaded himself. SWAT teams and local police negotiated for hours before taking the man into custody without further injuries.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the deceased woman or the man in custody, and the investigation into the circumstances of the woman’s death is ongoing. The toddler was safely removed from the home, and neighbors were told to stay indoors for safety during the standoff.
